Untitled - Clock Piece Installation
A durational meditation on the inexorability of time and the cyclical poetics of existence.
In Untitled – Clock Piece, a 10 x 10 wooden platform assumes a dual role as both altar and axis, grounding the temporal and spatial dynamics of the work. Encircled by a meticulously arranged constellation of 60 stones—each embodying the passage of a second within a minute—the installation renders time's abstraction into a physical and tactile schema, evoking a primordial alignment with the rhythms of the earth.
A central performer enacts the embodiment of time, their deliberate, near-imperceptible movements synchronized to the mechanistic cadence of a ticking clock. They are encircled by another figure bearing a light, an emblem of the sun, tracing an orbit that collapses temporal distance and mirrors the cyclical inevitability of natural systems. Together, their interplay dissolves the boundaries between stillness and motion, performer and environment, confronting the audience with the inexorable progression of temporality.
Through its durational lens, Untitled – Clock Piece operates as a visceral and conceptual excavation of time, dismantling linear constructs in favor of cyclical perception. The work insists on an active engagement with time's relentless march, situating the audience within its unfolding and challenging their complicity in its imperceptible erosion.
